Scientifically known as Plumeria rubra, this flowering plant is also called Frangipani, Red Jasmine, or Temple Tree. It's Goa's stateflower, found abundantly in the coastal plains and Western Ghats of India's smallest state, Goa. Plumeria rubra grows as a small tree or shrub, producing fragrant flowers in various shades like pink, white, and yellow during summer and autumn.
Locally known as Champa or Chafo, it holds cultural & religious significance and is commonly
seen in parks, gardens, and around temples in Goa. These flowers, valued for their fragrance and symbolism, are often found near old temples in Goa, where they're offered in Hindu and Buddhist rituals. Red Champa or Red Frangipani exudes a delightful fragrance, combining sweet floral notes with tropical richness and creamy undertones. Red Champa is better than Nag Champa in terms of fragrance and lonegeivity.
