Bhaderwah Valley region of Doda District of Jammu & Kashmir is one area witnessing the Purple revolution in full bloom. The first Lavender Festival was celebrated in this region. In Last decade Lavender cultivation was introduced as part of a central government-led effort called the Aroma Mission. The Lavender Revolution has brought praise and prosperity to the farmers in Jammu and Kashmir while covering the whole region purple.


Lavender oil extracted from its flowers yields huge profits due to its wide usage in aromatic products, cosmetics and perfumery across the globe. Dried lavender flowers are used to make potpourri, sachets and flower arrangements and to make soaps and aromatic products like fresheners, incense sticks etc.
