In Sanskrit Astha means 8 & Gandha means Fragrance. Asthagandha is made by mixing 8 fragrant substances. Asthagandha is used for offering worship to Gods in Hindu culture. It is believed that Ashtagandha was a smell that Lord Krishna loved to wear at all times., Ashtagandha  is made of various herbs, resins  & flowers like saffron, basil, sandalwood, chandni, agar, camphor, red turmeric(kumkum), doob grass etc.

The ingredients are combined to create a thick liquid & it is used in Hindu pujas. Ashtagandha is commercially available in powder form. It is made into liquid or paste & used in Hindu rituals. It’s also used for worship in temples & homes. Some Hindus wear Ashtagandha tilak on forehead & this helps in ushering in good luck, peace & prosperity.
